Stop Child Trafficking: You Can Make a Difference!

There comes a time in life when you stop simply hoping something will change, that someone else will figure out a solution, that pain will just go away. You get to a point where you decide I need to be one of the ones to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

You don't know HOW you'll find the time or resources, WHO will join your efforts, WHEN you'll see results, but you simply decide to do something. You decide that faith is just as real as sight and in the end it is what please Him (Hebrews 11:6).

This is exactly how the SCTNow* (www.SCTNow.org) campaign began. Lynette and I were increasingly tormented by what we were learning about child sex trafficking within the United States. Being appalled and despondent were no longer enough; we decided we had to do something. Having both been involved in numerous non-profit organizations for years, either by serving them or starting them, we realized that together we had years of lessons learned and, to some degree, platforms built -- platforms that may lead to influence against this awful crime. Whether we had anything useful or not, we were not sure, but we were sure that the God of Heaven and many of His choice children would help us.

We started doing research to get educated about the issue and we made an early decision to build a grassroots-people campaign, confident that thousands of others just like us would want to get involved and put an end to this unthinkable depravity. We found ourselves unable to sleep at night, no longer because of just grieving over the issue, but now because of the exciting people and ideas that started coalescing.

Dr. Laura Lederer became a fast friend and counselor with her more than 25 years of knowledge and experience on this issue in the State Department and beyond. Her invitation for us to join her in the White House for a briefing was a further confirmation. Greg Wark and a host of special Ops-elite retired military heroes (Navy SEALS, former Marines, and retired CIA) empowered our passion and vision to go after the demand-side of the issue and prosecute the predators to strike fear in the hearts of men who want to have sex with a child. Rich Mauch of EventWorks invested hours of generous input and advice, helping craft the vision for an historic event on the streets of Manhattan and all across the U.S. and the World. In October, a highly gifted gal named Sundy(not Sunday) joined SCTNow as the National Campaign Manager.

Now here we are, a year later and only 6 weeks away from our inaugural event in New York City, 45 cities, and nearly 100 campuses nationwide. We stand amazed at how many men, women, college students, and high schoolers from all over the nation are signing up and rallying friends to join the army in fighting this modern-day slavery. The phone rings daily with more exciting news. Recently an assistant in the White House called as the President expressed interest in Walking with us to Stop Child Trafficking. Later they called to decline due to a scheduling conflict, but we were glad that the word was getting out. We have loved how God has added people to our team who have yet to meet their Creator and Redeemer. Interestingly, some have recently met the Lord of life as a result of getting around some of His children in this march toward a more godly America.

Just imagine what we can do together in obliterating child sex slavery for good. We are honored and humbled to have you in this war. Together, we are making history. Your role can make a difference and I trust you will join us in whatever way you feel important. It may take a lifetime, but we will never give up on the fight to help protect our children and teens. We know that every predator who is convicted will protect at least 200 children. For this reason alone we work to be better stewards in the earth, helping to stop slavery in our generation and bringing His Kingdom on earth, just as it is in Heaven.
